The archaeological complex of Piquillacta (in Quechua: Pikillaqta, ‘town of the fleas’) is an archaeological site formed by the remains of a city of Ancient Peru, of the pre-Hispanic era. It is located in the district of Lucre, province of Quispicanchi, department of Cuzco, about 30 km southeast of the city of Cuzco and 3,250 meters above sea level, in the Lucre river basin and in a mesothermic environment along the Vilcanota river. It covers an area of approximately 50 hectares.
The Tipón complex is located near Oropesa in the Community of Choquepata, 27 km southeast of Cusco, in Peru and next to the Cusco-Puno road. It contains enclosures, terraces and an intact ditch.
The upper part of the complex is crossed by the Inca Trail along with an irrigation canal.
It has probably been used as a laboratory for agricultural products by the various microclimates found in this complex.
The Andahuaylillas district is one of the twelve that make up the province of Quispicanchi, department of Cuzco, Republic of Peru. It limits to the north with the province of Paucartambo; to the east, with the district of Urcos; to the south, with the district of Huaro and the province of Acomayo and to the west, with the district of Lucre. The province of Quispicanchi is integrated into the Archdiocese of Cusco.
